Porsche Cayenne Electric Launched in India at ₹1.77 Crore, Deliveries Begin

Porsche has launched the Cayenne Electric in India, priced at ₹1.77 crore (ex-showroom). Deliveries have already begun, according to HT Auto. The electric SUV marks Porsche's second EV in the country after the Taycan.

The Cayenne Electric is part of Porsche's push to electrify its lineup. The German automaker has not revealed detailed specifications for the Indian market yet, but the global version offers a range of over 500 km on a single charge and fast-charging capabilities. The SUV will compete with other luxury electric SUVs like the Audi Q8 e-tron, BMW iX, and Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV.

Porsche's move comes as India's luxury EV segment grows. The government's push for electric mobility and falling battery costs have made high-end EVs more viable. However, the ₹1.77 crore price tag puts the Cayenne Electric firmly in the ultra-luxury bracket, limiting its appeal to a niche set of buyers.

Deliveries have commenced, but Porsche hasn't shared how many units are allocated for India. The company's existing Taycan has seen modest sales here, partly due to the lack of a solid charging network. Porsche has been working with partners to set up fast chargers at dealerships and key locations.

The Cayenne Electric is based on the same platform as the Porsche Macan Electric, which is also expected to launch in India soon. Both models are part of Porsche's goal to have 80% of its global sales be electric by 2030.

For now, the Cayenne Electric is available for order at Porsche centres across major Indian cities. The first batch of deliveries is likely to go to customers who booked the SUV earlier this year.
