Prozeal Green Energy Signs Framework Agreement for 100 MW Gujarat Solar Project
The Ahmedabad-based developer has tied up a 100 MW solar framework in Gujarat, though the agreement leaves key details on land, tariffs and timelines open.
Prozeal Green Energy has signed a framework agreement for a 100 MW solar project in Gujarat. The Ahmedabad-based solar developer announced the deal on Friday, according to a report by Saur Energy.
The company did not disclose the value of the agreement, the site of the project, or the timeline for commissioning. Framework agreements of this kind typically set the broad terms between a developer and a partner, with detailed contracts to follow.
Gujarat has become one of the country's busiest solar markets. The state's installed solar capacity has crossed 10 GW, helped by some of the highest irradiation levels in India and a land bank that stretches across Banaskantha, Kutch and Patan. Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd runs a steady pipeline of tenders, and the state's solar policy has drawn both domestic and foreign developers.
Prozeal, founded in 2011, builds and operates solar plants for commercial and industrial customers as well as utility-scale projects. The company has worked on rooftop and ground-mounted installations across several states. A 100 MW deal would be a sizeable step up from its earlier portfolio, though the framework stage means the capacity is not yet locked in.
Solar developers in India have been signing a flurry of agreements this year as module prices stay low and demand from discoms holds. But framework pacts often take months to convert into construction. Land acquisition, transmission connectivity and power purchase agreements remain the usual bottlenecks.
Gujarat's transmission network is better prepared than most, but evacuating power from remote solar parks still needs dedicated lines. The state has been adding capacity at a fast clip, and grid operators have flagged the need for more storage to manage the evening peak.
For Prozeal, the Gujarat project would add to a growing order book. The company has not said whether the power will be sold to a state discom, a private buyer or through an open-access arrangement. Those details will decide the project's economics.
The solar sector in India added a record 24 GW in the last financial year, and Gujarat accounted for a large share of that. Analysts expect the pace to continue, though land and transmission constraints are starting to bite in some districts.
Prozeal's agreement is the latest in a series of framework deals announced by mid-sized developers looking to scale up. Whether this one moves to construction will depend on the fine print.
The company did not respond to a request for comment on the project's timeline or location.
