CleanMax Adds 530 MW of Renewable Energy in Q1 FY27
The Indian clean energy firm commissioned new solar and wind projects across multiple states in the first quarter of the financial year.
CleanMax has commissioned 530 megawatts of renewable energy capacity in the first quarter of the financial year 2026-27, the company announced. The new capacity includes both solar and wind projects spread across several Indian states.
Projects Spread Across States
The commissioned capacity comes from a mix of utility-scale solar farms and wind energy installations. CleanMax said the projects are located in Gujarat, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Tamil Nadu. The company did not break down the exact share of solar versus wind in the 530 MW figure.
These projects are part of CleanMax's broader plan to expand its renewable energy portfolio. The company builds and operates clean power plants, then sells the electricity to commercial and industrial buyers under long-term power purchase agreements.
Open Access Model
CleanMax uses an open access model. That means it sets up renewable energy plants at one location and transmits the power to customers in other states through the grid. This lets factories, offices, and data centers buy green electricity without building their own solar panels or wind turbines.
The company says it now has over 3.5 GW of total commissioned renewable energy capacity across India. That includes projects that are already running and selling power.
Corporate Demand Growing
Indian companies are buying more renewable energy to meet their sustainability targets. Many have set net-zero goals for 2030 or 2040. CleanMax's customers include large firms in manufacturing, information technology, and retail.
The Indian government wants 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030. As of March 2026, the country had about 200 GW of installed renewable energy capacity. Companies like CleanMax help bridge that gap by building new projects quickly.
Financing and Future Plans
CleanMax raised $500 million in debt financing last year to fund its expansion. The company has also tied up with global investors including the World Bank's International Finance Corporation and the UK's CDC Group.
CleanMax said it will commission another 200 MW of capacity in the second quarter of FY27. That would take its total new capacity for the first half of the financial year to 730 MW.
